Biography

Benjamin G. Paster, born St. Louis, Missouri, July 8, 1948; admitted to bar, 1975, New York and U.S. Tax Court; 1976, Rhode Island. 

His law practice sets special emphasis on estate planning for highly compensated executives/professionals; owners of closely-held businesses and the families of developmentally disabled persons. He is an authority on income tax planning, drafting will and trust documents, and probating and administering estates of decedents and persons adjudged incompetent. Mr. Paster prepares all estate, gift and generation-skipping tax returns and often is engaged in resolving disputes with tax officials.

A contributor to scholarly journals on estate planning and tax law issues, Mr. Paster is a frequent lecturer to professional and consumer audiences.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and a member of its Practice Committee. He is also a past President of the Board of the Estate Planning Council of Rhode Island. Mr. Paster is the former Chairman of The Miriam Hospital Foundation and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Rhode Island Foundation. He is also a member of the Probate and Trust Committee of the Rhode Island and American Bar Associations.
